2021 MUNICIPAL Election Information
DECLARATION OF CANDIDACY
The city of Wellington, Utah will hold a Municipal General Election on November 2, 2021 for the following offices:
Candidate filing period begins June 1, 2021 and ends June 7, 2021 (UCA 20A-9-203). Each person seeking to become a candidate for office must file a Declaration of Candidacy in person with the City Recorder at 150 West Main. Office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There is no filing fee. Any questions should be directed to Glenna Nelson, gnelson@wellingtonutah.org or 435-637-5213.
Qualifications for a candidate are: (1) Be a United States citizen; (2) Be at least 18 years old; (3) be a registered voter of the municipality; (4) has been a legal resident of the municipality for a period of 12 consecutive months immediately before November 2, 2021 (UCA 20A-9-203(1)); (5) must not be mentally incompetent, convicted of a felony, convicted of treason or a crime against the elective franchise, unless their right to hold elective office has been restored.
*Given a sufficient number of candidates, a primary election will be held on August 10, 2021.
- Mayor - 4-year term
- 2 City Council Seats - 4-year term
- 1 City Council Seat - 2-year term

Important 2021 dates to remember
- June 1-7: Declaration of Candidacy Filing Period.
- July 27-August 6: Early Voting Period for Primary Election (only if needed).
- August 10: Primary Election Day (only if needed).
- August 30: Last day a write-in candidate can file.
- October 3: Last day a resident can establish residency and vote in the Wellington 2021 General Election.
- October 11: Ballots mailed to registered voters. If you have not received your ballot by October 18, please contact the Carbon County Clerk/Auditor Office at 435-636-3200. (Once received, ballots can be dropped in the ballot drop box located in Wellington City Hall, ballot drop box located in the Carbon County Administrative Offices parking lot or at an y ballot drop box in Carbon County.
- October 27- November 1: Early voting period. Anyone who has not registered to vote may register to vote and vote during the early voting period. At the Carbon County Clerk/Auditors Office, 751 E 100 N Price, UT 84501.
- October 22: The last day the county will accept voter registrations for the 2021 General Election. To Register to vote online go to www.vote.utah.gov.
- October 28: Last day to submit Military and Overseas voter registrations. Military and overseas voters please go to the following website for further information on registering and voting. https://voteinfo.utah.gov/military-and-overseas-voters/
- November 1: The last day to mail your ballot. The ballot envelope must be postmarked on or before this date.
- November 2: Election Day. Vote Centers will be open from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm. You may pick up a ballot or get election help at any Vote Center in the county.. Please check the Carbon County website for locations. Wellington will have a ballot drop box open until 5:00 pm on Election Day.
- November 16: Date may be subject to change. Canvass and Certification of election results
- January 3, 2022: Newly-elected Mayor and Council Members take office.
