Wellington City Ordinance Title 9 Summary of Business Licensing Requirements

Anyone engaged in business including, but not limited to – sale of tangible personal property at retail or wholesale, the manufacturing of goods or the rendering of person services is considered business. Piano Lessons require a business license.

New Business License Requirements

Business License Renewals

Submit Application and $15.00 Application Fee
Attend Planning and Zoning meeting (1st Wednesday of the month)
Planning and Zoning Commissioners will, if conditions are met, make a favorable recommendation for applicant to appear before City Council.
Upon approval applicant pays $50.00 business license fee. If required applicant may also need to pay $50.00 fire inspection fee.
City Hall will issue a business license once all fees are paid

All business licenses expire on December 31st of the current calendar year. Businesses will receive renewal forms in December. Renewal fees are based on total gross income received by the business during the year prior. Renewal fees are $50.00 minimum, $300 maximum. A late fee of 10% is assessed if not renewed prior to February 1st.
